This project is started with a video work in the name of DR in Osaka 2009.
It was about to audible by an optical sensor, some signals of the invisible infrared sensors, which is used for automatic doors and automatic stuff in the public space. to get perception of urban city soundscape.
By the going out several time with optical sensor to the city, my interests move to musical scale that high frequency blinking of the LED by a vending machine or the electric signboard. There, i got inspiration for a video work and the performance series which I have done in the ;Light City; Gwangju, South Korea.
The performance was participative, and the coherent concept was;
never make any rule
participant should bring a own light
participant should bring anything new by each shows
In Gwangyu, i also did a DIY workshop to make the same sensor that I used for our performance with material that available locally.
このシリーズは大阪でのDR名義のパフォーマンスのために2009年、公共空間にある自動扉などで使われる、目に見えない赤外線センサーの信号を光センサーによって可聴化し、知覚化する事を目的に製作したビデオ作品が始まりでした。
センサーを持って町に出にると、自動販売機や電光掲示板等で使われるダイナミック点灯方式によるＬＥＤの高周波点滅が起こす音階に興味が移り、光の町、韓国の光州でのビデオ作品、パフォーマンスシリーズに繋がりました。
パフォーマンスは参加型で、一貫したコンセプトとしては、ルールは作らないこと、自分のライトを一つ持ってくること、セッションの度に新しい何かを一つ考えて持ってくることを参加者にはお願いしました。
光州では、現地で手に入る素材を使って、パフォーマンスで使っているものと同じセンサーを作る工作のワークショップも行いました。
